CASCAR stars in Hooters Pro Cup race

CASCAR stars to compete in Hooters Cup race at Cayuga

Speedway Marketing Inc. has announced that defending national CASCAR champion and current points leader Don Thomson Jr, will be attending the August 24th USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series race at Cayuga Speedway August 24th. "Donnie will drive the #16 Ford for series' car owner Don Sprouse of North Carolina" said Speedway Marketing Inc. President Jeff Gotelaer. The team, to be managed by CASCAR team owner John Fitzpatrick of Fitzpatrick Motorsports, will now search for a sponsor/s for the event.
Gates open at noon that Saturday with time trials for the Lucas Oil-250 presented by
S. M. Freight at 4:30 and racing at 7pm. The CASCAR teams will be enjoying a lengthy break in the Super Series schedule with the next event not slated till late September at Delaware Speedway. Don Thomson Jr who normally campaigns the #4 Home Hardware Monte Carlo, has posted 6 top 10 finishes on 7 Canadian ovals so far this season including a 2nd place finish in the Canada Day Shootout at Cayuga back on June 30th. Thomson finished behind NASCAR Winston Cup star Matt Kenseth in that event and has had great success on the 5/8ths mile oval throughout the years.

Also competing in the August 24th race will be Windsor's Ron Beauchamp Jr in his #60 Mopar Intrepid. Beauchamp, who sits 8th in CASCAR national points, has raced in the Hooters Pro Cup series before and should be right at home on the fast oval.

Fitzpatrick Motorsports releases are prepared by Millennium Sports Productions. For sponsorship information on this event, contact Speedway Marketing Inc at jeffgo@mnsi.net, office #519 674-5709 or cell # 519-401-0236.
