The Jeff Gordon Foundation makes $100,000 gift to Riley Hospital for Children a

INDIANAPOLIS - From race lanes to bowling lanes, Jeff Gordon will always 
be a champion in the eyes of Riley patients and their families.  At the 
recent Jeff Gordon Bowling Tournament, racing and sport celebrities joined 
Gordon and Riley Hospital for Children to score high for Hoosier kids.
    At the close of the first annual tournament, Jeff Gordon and The Jeff 
Gordon Foundation presented a check for $100,000 to Riley Hospital for 
Children. 
    The inaugural tournament was held at the AMF Raceway Lanes across from 
the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, just three days before the ninth annual 
Brickyard 400.  Several action-packed bowling games took place, with 
direction from professional bowler Parker Bohn III, named the 2002 Chris 
Schenkel Professional Bowlers Association Player of the Year.  Spectators, 
bowlers and celebrities also shopped at an impressive sports-lover's silent 
auction.  Items included signed uniforms from Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson, 
autographed original car panels, an autographed basketball from Michael 
Jordan and a signed Tiger Woods Pin Flag.
    Team sponsors received an autographed team photo with Jeff Gordon for 
each of the four-member teams, refreshments for team members and a 
complimentary gift pack for each participant.  Throughout the evening, each 
team hosted a celebrity guest bowler.  Jimmie Johnson, Casey Atwood, Geoffrey 
Bodine and Ray Evernham were among the many celebrity bowlers participating 
in the tournament.
    Gordon, three-time winner of the Brickyard 400, named Indiana's only 
comprehensive children's hospital one of the designated charities of The Jeff 
Gordon Foundation in 2001.
    "Riley Hospital for Children is privileged to be among the causes Mr. 
Gordon so generously supports," said Dr. Richard Schreiner, 
physician-in-chief at Riley Hospital.
    Title sponsor of the event was Village Pantry.  Radio station 95.5 WFMS 
was the media partner.
