Law Runs Out of Luck at The Glen

WATKIN'S GLEN, NY (August 9, 2002) - This wasn't Rolex Series driver Darren Law's weekend at Watkin's Glen International. With three wins under his belt on the 2.45-mile road course, Law was confident coming into Friday's event.

During Thursday's qualifying session, Law turned the third fastest time in the SRP II class, putting him sixth overall on the grid. The #07 Momentum Motorcars/G&W Motorsports Picchio sponsored by USI and Valley Group experienced motor problems after qualifying, which resulted in the prototype starting in the back of the field.

"We had a real positive run," Law said. "We made up a lot of ground in the first stint until Andy had an altercation with another car. The rear body was severally damaged."

With about 30 minutes left in the race, the #07 Picchio was forced to retire due to the extensively damaged bodywork coming off of the car.

"This weekend just wasn't our weekend," Law said. "We have always done really well here, but unfortunately we didn't have the same luck this time around."

Law's next stop on the Rolex Series circuit will be at G&W's home track of Virginia International Raceway on September 1.
