India July Total Car Sales Up To 47,690, Motorcycle Sales Up to 276,949 (US July Car Sales 1.5 million)

NEW DELHI -Dow Jones reported that Indian auto manufacturers' sales of passenger cars, motorcycles, two-wheelers and trucks rose in July from a year earlier, according to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers Tuesday.

Car sales rose 6.6% on-year to 47,690 from 44,728. Motorcycle sales were up 35.7% at 276,949, according to the data.

Sales of heavy and medium trucks were up 25.7% at 5,823. Positive truck sales are seen as a sign of economic recovery by most analysts.
