Intuicom Selected to Provide Communication Network for City of Fremont, Calif.; Intuicom's Wireless Network to Provide Real-Time Vehicle Tracking Solution
BOULDER, Colo.--Aug. 13, 2002--Intuicom, Inc.(TM), a leader in private wireless data networks optimized for data-critical applications, has been chosen to provide the communication hardware and software for an integrated wireless communications system for City of Fremont. The system will provide real-time communications for automatic vehicle location (AVL) and data to the city's vehicles.Intuicom was selected by CompassCom, Inc. of Centennial, Colorado, who is the prime contractor on the Fremont project. CompassCom will oversee the deployment of the integrated wireless communications system that will provide real-time position and data communication to City of Fremont dispatchers, vehicle operators and system planners. The first phase of the project will outfit approximately 50 vehicles and is expected to enter service by November 2002.
Intuicom, located in Boulder, Colo., will supply its state-of-the-art SmartGPS(TM) products as the in-vehicle positioning and communication component of the system. Intuicom is also providing the Communicator(TM)-based radio infrastructure on the project. These components will provide a broadband communication backbone that will provide up-to-the-second vehicle positioning and data communications.
