Federal-Mogul to Support Injured Drag Racers Through Donations For NHRA Collector Card Sets at Woodward Dream Cruise
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Aug. 12 -- Federal-Mogul Corporation has teamed with the Drag Racing Association of Women (DRAW) to help provide financial support to drivers and families affected by drag racing accidents. The company has donated hundreds of award-winning Sealed Power® National Hot Rod Association 50th Anniversary collector card sets to DRAW that will be available during the August 17 "Woodward Dream Cruise 2002" to anyone who donates $20 or more.
The sealed and numbered collector sets are available by visiting the company's Sealed Power/Speed-Pro® engine systems display at 31105 Woodward Ave. (at the corner of Woodward and 13 Mile Road) in Royal Oak during the Dream Cruise. While supplies last, DRAW, a non-profit organization that will be represented in the Sealed Power/Speed-Pro display, will offer one free card set to any person who contributes $20 or more to support DRAW efforts. DRAW has provided more than $2 million in direct financial assistance to racers and families affected by drag racing accidents.
Federal-Mogul produced just 5,000 of the gold foil-embossed sets, which celebrate the most important names, places, events and innovations of NHRA's first half-century. The collector card sets, never before available to the general public, recently received a bronze-level citation in the prestigious International Automotive Advertising Awards.
"Federal-Mogul's Sealed Power and Speed-Pro brands have played prominent roles in the success of NHRA competition and we're proud that each brand will contribute to the growth of DRAW," said Steve Hildebrand, director of marketing-engine products for Federal-Mogul. "Since its inception, DRAW has been the one organization committed to helping drivers and families that have had to deal with drag racing accidents. We're pleased to contribute to that mission."
DRAW was founded in 1985 following a private campaign to support injured racer Shirley Muldowny, one of the best-known drivers in NHRA history. Muldowny's career is featured on a card within the Sealed Power set. For more information on DRAW, visit www.drawonline.org .
Federal-Mogul's extensive Dream Cruise 2002 display also will feature NHRA superstar Whit Bazemore's 324-mile-per-hour Nitro Funny Car and the "world's fastest street machine" -- the 2,200-horsepower Chevrolet Camaro built by drag racing legend Mike Moran.
The Sealed Power engine parts brand represents a comprehensive system of internal engine technologies for standard automotive and small-engine applications. Each component features aftermarket-specific technologies engineered to deliver exceptional performance and durability. Sealed Power products include pistons, piston rings, engine bearings, camshafts, oil pumps, timing sets and valvetrain components. Sealed Power is the official "engine systems" brand of NHRA.
