ProCup Drivers Return to Visit South Boston
Fayetteville, GA - The USAR Hooters ProCup Series Southern Division will return to Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway Saturday August 17th for the running of the Lucas Oil 250. This will be the fifth visit by the Series to the popular 4/10-mile facility located in southern Virginia, which has featured competitive racing every time Series drivers visited the challenging oval.
Mario Gosselin is the only driver to win multiple races in 1997 and 2001. Gosselin was awarded the win after Jay Fogleman failed post race inspection with his car. Fogleman won when the Series returned to the track in 1999 and Hal Goodson visited victory lane in 2000.
One driver looking forward to visiting the track is South Boston native and current driver of the #11 Mabe Trucking Chevrolet, Stacy Puryear. Puryear, who has finally secured solid backing and support from Mabe Trucking after switching rides several times over the past year or so is ready to return to his home track.
Puryear finished in the top-10 last season and feels his team can be competitive when they return later this month.
"I am so happy that we have been able to put together a deal with Mabe Trucking for this season," said Puryear. "We love going back home racing at our home track. It gives us a chance to race in front of our family and friends and we also enjoy visiting a track that we have a lot of experience running."
Fogleman has also planned to compete in the race, moving out of the Northern Division to compete for his former his team sponsored by Lucas Oil Products.
"It is the closest race we have to my hometown of Durham, NC and this gives me a chance to race in front of a lot of my family and friends," Fogleman said. "We are happy to get this opportunity to compete in a race sponsored by Lucas Oil Products and we look forward to having our special guests from The Arc there as well."
The Lucas Oil 250 will feature a driver autograph session at 6:15 pm with the race to begin at 7:30 followed by a 100 lap Late Model race.
