Xtreme Stock Car Championship & Kids Night at the Races at Hardeeville

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. (August 10, 2002) - Celebrating "Kids Night", race fans
saw the Xtreme Stock Car Championship 150 Lap Race where Tim Dasher of
Bluffton, SC was able to hold off a hard charging Don Dean of Sheldon, SC
to capture the win and the big check as Xtreme Stock Car Champion. The
Coastal Medical Associate Street Stocks showcased a 30 Lap feature with
Hubert Into of Bloomingdale, GA taking the checkered flag ahead of Glenn
Mappus of Ridgeville, SC. Mappus had caught the leader Into with two laps
to go but lost control of his car in turn two and wasn't to catch back up
before the race ended. The ever-popular Road Warriors were back in action
for two events with Peter Frank of Bluffton, SC winning the first race and
Chelsea Carr of Martinez, GA winning the final feature. Stephen Moore of
St. George, SC came into tonight's Mini Stock 20 lap feature with the
points series lead narrowly over David Carr, Jr. of Martinez, GA and it
appeared that he might not leave the track with the car in one piece as he
was involved in two separate crashes before 1 full lap was completed. Moore
was able to regain control and work himself back up through the field to
take the victory over Johnny Brown of Bluffton, SC.

As anticipated, the 30 lap Legend Car feature race was filled with
excitement from flag to flag as several cars saw their night come to an
early end. Kevin O'Brien of Burton, SC and Jonathan Haidon of Hilton Head,
SC mixed it up towards the end of the race as O'Brien got in to the side
and rear of Haidon sending them both off towards the turn four wall out of
control. Earlier in the night, Jimmy Lang of Bluffton, SC got into the rear
bumper of Hardeeville, SC native Billy Tysinger, forcing him into O'Brien
as he could not check up on the track. After the checkered flag fell, Lang
came across victorious for the second time at HMS this year ahead of Kevin
Eves of Guyton, GA. Finishing third was the "Hard Charger " of the race,
Heath Springs, SC native Tommy Wrape. Wrape took a $100 challenge and
started at the rear of field in an attempt to claim the money prize. Wrape
ended up two spots short of the money but had his best race of the year so
far. Lang was publicly noted as the National Semi- Pro Asphalt Series
points leader during post race interviews.

A couple of race fans found themselves as lucky winners and took rides
around the 1/3 mile high banked oval in the Hardeeville Motor Speedway
Winston Cup Car, after his ride around the track with Cup Car driver Steve
Perry, one winner said "….This was just fun…. awesome!!"

Racing action returns next Saturday night, August 17th as the Big Kahuna
Street Car Showdown II returns to the Speedway. Also, the Auto Intensive
Car Care 100 will be run for the O.C. Welch Ford Lincoln Mercury Late
Models, along with the Xtreme Stocks, Mini Stocks, Road Warriors and
