Dyson Racing Finish 1-2 at Bully Hill Vineyards 250

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (August 9, 2002) -- Dyson Racing Team dominated the Bully Hill Vineyards 250 at Watkins Glen International Friday night with the team's pair of Ford-powered Riley & Scott race cars finishing 1-2 in the twilight race. Butch Leitzinger and Rob Dyson piloted the team's #20 car to is first win of the season, while the team's #16 entry took second with Chris Dyson and James Weaver behind the wheel.

Jack Baldwin and George Robinson posted their best finish of the season with third place overall in the Robinson Racing #74 Riley & Scott. However, the team felt it could have won the race if its Judd engine had not been plagued with fuel pump problems that caused the team to pit twice for unscheduled fueling pit stops.

The points-leading #27 Judd Dallara of Doran Lista Racing, which had captured the pole on Thursday, was forced into the pits with electrical engine trouble than resulted in a fourth-place finish in the SRP class and 12th overall.

Scuderia Ferrari of Washington drivers Bill Auberlen and Cort Wagner picked up their third-straight win of the season in the GT class, tying the series record for the most consecutive GT wins. The #33 Ferrari 360GT suffered repeated tire failure during the race, causing several unplanned pit stops and dropping the GT polesitters to second place behind the Perspective Motorsports #24 Mosler MT900 R.

With less than 30 minutes remaining in the race, the Ferrari suffered yet another flat tire that seemed to erase any hope the team had of overtaking the leader. But with only three laps left before the checkered flag, the Mosler's engine let go and the Ferrari was able to slide by for the lead and GT win. The Mosler held on for second place, while the Marcus Motorsports #9 BMW M3 took third.

Terry Borcheller and Anthony Lazzaro continued Rand Racing's winning streak in the SportsRacing Prototype II class in the #8 Nissan-engined Lola. The #8 Lola held a one-lap lead over the team's #7 Lola of Nic Jonsson and Marino Franchitti, brother of CART racer Dario, which finished in second place.

Chris Bingham, Franz Konrad and Darius Grala returned the #5 Saleen S7R to Victory Lane after the GTS points-leading Park Place Racing entry was forced to retire early from the last two races. The Saleen team dominated the class, whose other competitors fell victim to mechanical woes early in the race.

After several strong race starts, but few good finishes, Heritage Motorsports finally scored its first Rolex Series win in the American GT class. Tommy Riggins and David Machavern drove the #48 Mustang to a two-lap margin of victory over the LG Motorsports #25 Corvette that finished second.

The Bully Hill Vineyards 250 will be broadcast on SPEED Channel this Sunday, August 11th at 1 p.m. ET. The Rolex Sports Car Series will travel next to VIRginia International Raceway for the VIR 500 on August 29 - September 1.
