Stuttgart Region to Host Fuel Cell Conference

    STUTTGART, Germany--Aug. 7, 2002--The Stuttgart Regional Economic Development Corporation will host its second annual "forum f-cell 2002," an international fuel cell conference and exhibition, October 14-15 in Stuttgart.
    The symposium is a collaborative effort between DaimlerChrysler and the Baden-Wuerttemberg State Ministry of Transport and Environment. Dr. Ferdinand Panik, vice president of DaimlerChrysler AG, Dr. Takuya Homma of the Fuel Cell Information Center in Tokyo and Dr. Mark Williams of the U.S. Department of Energy will be among a number of industry leaders speaking at this year's conference.
    Stuttgart's "forum f-cell 2002" will provide user-oriented information on future fuel-cell applications in the portable (electronic goods), mobile (transportation) and stationary (power generation) product sectors. The program will include transport industry case studies and the latest developments for portable electronics.
    "A broad spectrum of technology with experts ranging from producers to users of fuel cells and fuel-cell systems will be on hand in the conference exhibition area," Dr. Walter Rogg, managing director of the Stuttgart Regional Economic Development Corporation, noted.
    The first day of the conference will include an awards dinner recognizing a variety of technical breakthroughs in the field.
    An additional day -- October 16 -- is offered for attendees interested in a "field trip" visit to the research facilities of the German Aerospace Center in Stuttgart, the DaimlerChrysler Fuel Cell Project Center, the headquarters of Ballard's Transportation Division located in Kirchheim-Nabern and the Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research in Baden-Wuerttemberg (ZSW) in Ulm.
