"I felt like we had a pretty decent run at Sears Point. Road courses can be a little bit of a challenge, but I always seem to do a little better at Watkins Glen. If we can build on the run we had earlier, we should be good. Track position is especially important at these kinds of tracks because it's so hard to pass. Track position has been the key all season, but it'll be even more so here this weekend."

STATS & FACTS

*	This weekend's race marks Mayfield's 259th career start in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. In seven career Winston Cup Series races at Watkins Glen, Jeremy Mayfield's highest starting position was sixth in 2000.  Last year, Mayfield received his best finish at Watkins Glen.  He ended the race in third place after starting the day in the 39th position.

*	Last weekend, Jeremy Mayfield lapped the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during Saturday's qualifying session at 49.936/180.231 mph, putting him in the 12th starting spot for Sunday's Brickyard 400.  On the first round of pit stops, the No. 10 car and Mayfield's No. 19 Dodge Dealers Intrepid R/T made contact, forcing Mayfield to come back to the pits for a second time for repairs. He would make up ground after being shuffled back in the field but on lap 78 his engine failed, retiring Mayfield and the No. 19 Dodge Intrepid R/T for the day. Mayfield finished 39th.

*	After last weekend's finish in Indianapolis, Mayfield remains in 28th place in the Winston Cup points race, 205 points out of 25th place.

*	Mayfield's second-place run this year at Las Vegas was his best run at the track and his best overall finish since the 2000 Pennzoil 400 at Homestead-Miami where he finished second.  The finish also qualified Mayfield for the Winston No Bull 5 $1 million bonus during the May race in Charlotte.

*	Coming into the 2002 season, Mayfield had 237 starts, with six poles (two at Talladega and one at Darlington, Dover, Rockingham, and Texas), three wins (two at Pocono, and one at California), 33 top-fives and 58 top-10s.  His most recent win came at Pocono in June of 2000.
