TAKE A RIDE IN AN AMERICAN RACE TRUCK
AT IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY - SAT. MORNING AUG 10TH!

The American Race Truck Series is bringing its unique new 2-seat racetruck to Irwindale Speedway this Saturday to provide all media representatives with the chance to tour "LA's Half Mile Super Speedway" at speed.

WHEN: Saturday, August 10th, 9:00 a.m. to Noon

WHERE: Irwindale Speedway, 13300 East Live Oak Ave., Irwindale

"The American Race Truck may be the most popular new vehicle in short track racing," said Greg Larrimore, the American Race Truck Series' National Director. "It's easily the most affordable, especially for a full-size, V-8 powered racer, but many people don't realize exactly how fast an ARTS truck is on a paved oval. This will be a golden opportunity for members of the media to climb in, buckle up, and feel the speed for themselves."

The 2-seater was built by John Hulsebosch's West Coast Performance in Rancho Cucamonga, California. It is a brand new Chevy Silverado replica that's an exact copy of an American Race Truck except for the extra seat on the passenger side. Media representatives will be chauffeured by both John, a former competitor in the series, and his son Josh, who currently stands 10th in the SW regional standings.

Driving suits and helmets will be provided to all guests. Media representatives who are licensed, accredited drivers will also have an opportunity to drive.

"The American Race Truck Series track record is 20.556 seconds," added Larrimore. "The 2-seater won't be going near that fast, but I guarantee that anyone who takes a ride in it will think they're going a hundred miles an hour."

Saturday evening's race schedule will feature the tenth event for the American Race Truck Series at Irwindale this season. Curt Tori, a 17-year old rookie driver from Wilmington, Delaware, will make his first West Coast appearance in the No. 25 Team Rensi Motorsports American Race Truck sponsored by the U.S. Marines. Team Rensi also campaigns a Marines-sponsored car in the NASCAR Busch Series.

"Curt's been racing since he was four," said Ed Rensi. "I helped him when he was in the mini-cup series, and when it was time for him to step up, I wanted to help again. The kid's got a future in racing, and the ARTS series is a great stepping stone."
