TEAM TARGET FINISHES 31st AT INDIANAPOLIS
Spencer drops to 24th place in NASCAR Winston Cup championship points

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (August 4, 2002) - The No. 41 Target Dodge Intrepid R/T
driven by Jimmy Spencer finished in 31st place in the Brickyard 400 at
Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  Spencer drops to 24th position in NASCAR
Winston Cup championship points; he is one point behind Robby Gordon who is
currently in 23rd position.

At the start of the 160-lap event, the track temperature was recorded at
134.5 degrees Fahrenheit.  Spencer's Target Dodge started the race in 15th
position, but he radioed in early that the car was sliding from the apex of
the corner off.  Spencer kept his Dodge in the top-15 for close to half of
the race.  On lap 34, contact between Spencer and the No. 97 of Kurt Busch
brought out a caution.  Spencer's car was not damaged.

Thirty laps later, Spencer brought the Target Dodge down pit road during
green flag racing for a two-tire pit stop.  Spencer thought the Target Dodge
had a flat tire but it was not the case.  Following the green flag stop, the
team lost a lap and was unable to regain it for the remainder of the race.
The Target Dodge finished in 31st place, one lap down to the leaders.

Bill Elliott, driver of the No. 9 Dodge, won the Brickyard 400.  This is the
second win in a row for Elliott; he won the Pennsylvania 500 last weekend in
Pocono.  Next on the schedule for the No. 41 Target team is the Sirius
Satellite Radio at Watkins Glen International road course on August 11,
2002.  Scott Pruett will drive the No. 41 Target Dodge during this event;
Jimmy Spencer will race the No. 42 Chip Ganassi Racing Dodge.
