40 and 41 Brickyard 400 qualifying report

STERLING MARLIN / JIMMY SPENCER
CHIP GANASSI RACING WITH FELIX SABATES
BRICKYARD 400 QUALIFYING RESULTS

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (August 3, 2002) -The No. 40 Coors Light and No. 41
Target teams of Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates qualified in the
top-15 for the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Sterling Marlin, driver of the No. 40 Coors Light Dodge Intrepid R/T, will
start eighth for Sunday's event. Marlin's fastest lap was recorded at
49.806 seconds (180.701 mph).

"There was a cloud close when we went out, but I don't guess we ever got
it," Marlin said. "Our car was a little free. The early guys had the
advantage, and maybe they need to look at the qualifying time next year.
It's a big race and everybody wants to qualify good. This is the same car we
had last week at Pocono, and we won both races with it this year. It's No.
203 and we sure would like to get the third win with it here Sunday."

Jimmy Spencer, driver of the No. 41 Target Dodge Intrepid R/T, will start in
15th position. Spencer's lap was 180.173 mph (49.952 seconds).

"It was a good lap; it just wasn't fast," Spencer said. "We hit all our
marks, but we didn't get through turn one. I thought we were a whole lot
faster than we were. We just didn't get what we needed. We didn't make many
changes on the Target Dodge from what we tested and practiced, but it just
didn't work."

Tony Stewart, driver of the No. 20 Home Depot Pontiac, won the pole with a
lap time of 49.191 seconds. The Brickyard 400 from Indianapolis Motor
Speedway will be broadcast on NBC on Sunday, August 4 at 1:30 p.m., c.s.t.
