Subaru Reports Best July Sales in History; Forester Sets All-Time Record
CHERRY HILL, N.J., Aug. 1 -- Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA), a pioneer of crossover all-wheel drive vehicles designed for the active lifestyle, released record sales figures today for the month of July. Subaru recorded total sales of 16,195 units for the month, an increase of 1 percent from last year's July total. To date, Subaru has sold 101,751 units in 2002, down slightly from last year's total of 105,056 units for the comparable period.
"July was a very strong month for Subaru, thanks to record sales of the 2003 Forester," said Fred D. Adcock, Executive Vice President, Subaru of America, "With WRX, Forester, Outback and the upcoming Baja, we anticipate a strong sales performance in the third quarter."
Strong demand for the all-new 2003 Forester helped establish a new July sales record for this popular small SUV with 5,561 units recorded, up 17 percent from July 2001. Subaru Legacy and Outback recorded sales totals 7,609 and 5,673 units respectively. Subaru Impreza achieved a total of 3,025 unit sales for the month.
