Saab Cars USA's Sales Up 11% for the Month and 21% for the Year
NORCROSS, Ga., Aug. 1 -- With a sales increase of 11 percent for the month and 21 percent for the year, Saab Cars USA continues to outpace the entry luxury automobile market. For July 2002, the company reported sales of 3,756 Saab 9-3 and 9-5 automobiles vs. 3,372 cars last year. It is the sixth straight month of sales increases over last year. Year-to-date sales are up 21 percent over 2001, from 20,118 to 24,314 vehicles.
Strong sales across the full product line contributed to the overall increase. The significantly updated 2002 Saab 9-5 line posted an 18 percent increase, with the sedan model posting the largest gains, up 24 percent to 2,028 cars from 1,640.
"We obviously have fantastic momentum so far this year," said Richard O'Kelley, VP of Sales for Saab Cars USA, "and we are extremely excited about the rest of the year -- as we will launch our all-new 2003 9-3 Sport Sedan this fall. It appears that 2002 is going to be a banner year for Saab."
