Chrysler Group Reports U.S. July Sales

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Aug. 1 Chrysler Group reported U.S. sales of 185,602 units for July 2002. Jeep® Liberty sales remained strong, setting a July sales record, up 23 percent from last July. Chrysler PT Cruiser had a solid month, selling 11,735 units. Chrysler Group's overall car sales were up 17 percent, with most models reporting double-digit increases. Total Chrysler Group sales declined four percent compared to last July when calculated on a day-rate basis. (July 2002, 25 days - July 2001, 24 days.)

Jeep sold 13,586 Liberty vehicles in July. "In the mid-sized sport- utility vehicle segment, consumers continue to recognize the quality, styling and capability that Jeep Liberty has over its competition," said Gary Dilts, Senior Vice President - Sales. Jeep Grand Cherokee reported a solid sales performance with 20,167 units sold, up four percent compared to last year and the second-best sales month of 2002.

Chrysler PT Cruiser sales were up five percent compared to last July. "The segment-busting PT Cruiser continues with strong sales momentum and the PT Turbo is just around the corner," added Dilts.

Chrysler Group car sales were strong in July with 42,008 units sold. "With daily fleets continuing to stabilize and retail car sales being up compared to last year, we are looking forward to solid car sales for the remainder of the year," said Dilts.

Additional July car sales highlights, compared to the same month last year:

Chrysler Sebring Sedan reported record sales of 4,996 units, up 17
percent
Chrysler Sebring Coupe sales of 1,797 units, up 51 percent
Chrysler 300M sales of 2,852 units, up 22 percent
Chrysler Concorde sales of 2,188 units, up 37 percent
Total Dodge car sales of 26,789 units, up 33 percent
Dodge Intrepid sales of 8,141 units, up 38 percent
Dodge Neon sales of 9,149 units, up 33 percent
Dodge Stratus Sedan sales of 6,568 units, up 19 percent
Dodge Stratus Coupe sales of 2,789 units up 59 percent

Chrysler Group finished the month with 451,147 units of inventory, a 61- day supply, in line with industry standards.

Through major new initiatives within our product plan, aggressive new marketing campaigns and an emphasis on quality and productivity, we are moving steadily ahead."
