Volkswagen July U.S. sales up 0.3 pct y/y

FRANKFURT, Aug 1 Reuters reported that German carmaker Volkswagen said on Thursday its U.S. July sales rose 0.3 percent year-on-year to 32,100 vehicles.

Europe's biggest carmaker also said in a statement the figures meant its sales for the first half in the United States were 1.4 percent lower than a year ago at 202,119 units.

VW, which reported stronger-than-expected second quarter earnings this week but lowered its profit forecast for the whole year, has said its share of U.S. imports dropped to 9.5 percent in the first half of the year from 10.0 percent a year ago.
