Powerflex Points Sheehan Motor Racing in the Right Direction

Powerflex Points Sheehan Motor Racing in the Right Direction

Martinez, CA: Suspensions on modern cars are engineered for comfort. But
driving a car at speed on a racetrack has little to do with comfort. Racing
requires precision. Precision is hard to achieve when each of the
suspension bits are moving around independently of each other due to the
soft bushing materials that come on the car from the factory. The Sheehan
Motor Racing’s U.S. Touring Car Championship (USTCC) Subaru WRX will
increase its level of precision by upgrading to a Powerflex bushing kit
provided by SPA Technique (www.spatechnique.com).

Powerflex has developed a bushing kit specifically for the Subaru Impreza
line of vehicles that replaces all of the stock soft rubber bushings with
much stiffer polyurethane bushings and stainless steel sliders. These
bushings will keep the suspension of the teamSMR USTCC WRX firmly located
where it is supposed to be in hard braking and cornering. The result is
better driver feel, increased stability and reassuring consistency.
Ultimately, this improves drivability of the car during transitions and
allows the driver to go faster. The Powerflex bushing kit is so good that
it is on nearly every Group-N rally car competing in the U.S. Pro Rally
Championship.

“We are very excited to have SPA Technique working with us and to be using
their Powerflex bushing kit,” said Gary Sheehan, the team’s driver. “This
is one modification that is truly important to improving the handling of any
car. The improved suspension control that these bushing offer will keep the
all the tires pointed where they should be, letting me drive the car
 faster.”
