Rolex Drivers Call Mont-Tremblant "Breathtaking" Drivers Get Course Preview During Ferrari Challenge Event DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 30, 2002) -- Le Circuit Mont-Tremblant hosted the sixth round of the Ferrari Challenge last weekend, allowing three top Rolex Sports Car Series drivers to sneak a peek at the site of the inaugural 6 Heures du Circuit Mont-Tremblant, September 13-15. The trio of drivers returned from Quebec in awe of not only the racetrack, but also the complete atmosphere surrounding Mont-Tremblant. "The track is literally five minutes from the Tremblant resort. There is a beautiful lake, beautiful mountains, beautiful village... it just has everything. It's breathtaking," said Rand Racing driver Anthony Lazzaro. "And that's just the surroundings. The track is one of the classic F1-Can Am tracks that I've always wanted to go to. They have done a tremendous job on the track itself." Ferrari of Washington driver Cort Wagner was lucky enough to race in the Ferrari Challenge event and was eager to share his thoughts on the recently restored course. "It's a genetic cross breeding of Road Atlanta and VIR. It's got some great corners that challenge the testicular size, as well as some technical corners," he remarked. "The facility is stunningly beautiful nestled in the hills of Mont-Tremblant. One of the keys is that it is about four minutes from a wonderful Swiss-style village in the Mont-Tremblant area by a lake. There are plenty of great restaurants, hotels and shopping." SportsRacing Prototype II points leader Terry Borcheller agreed. "There are very few tracks in my mind that are extra challenging from a driver standing point, and Mont-Tremblant has some of those places that are extra technical. For example, turns one and two remind me of the old bridge turn at Road Atlanta. Drivers will be separated by a second or two just on the way they make it through that turn. It's going to be a challenge," he said with enthusiasm. All three drivers commented that they were looking forward to the 6 Heures du Circuit Mont-Tremblant. "It's one of the best racetracks I've ever been on. It really is. I'm really looking forward to going there, especially since it's a six-hour race, because that means more time actually on the track," said Lazzaro. "It's going to be great place to race. Being my first time there, I was really impressed," added Borcheller. The Rolex Sports Car Series will run the inaugural 6 Heures du Circuit Mont-Tremblant, September 13-15, joined by the Grand-Am Cup Street Stock Series.
