USAR Team Press Release

For Immediate Release

Hickory, NC, July 27, 2002,...John Kinder, driver of the 08 MultiMedia
Graphics & Production Chevrolet had a very long night of racing at Hickory
this past weekend, but despite his 19th place finish, he was able to move up
one spot in the point standings. Kinder, now sits in 8th place in the
Southern Division of the USAR Pro Cup Series.

"We had a pretty good car all during practice and felt good about the race.
We practiced on old tires all day and was 10th on the speed charts, and felt
with new tires we would pick up a few tenths in qualifying. That was not the
case, either I over drove the car in qualifying or we just missed the set up,
either way, we had a disappointing qualifying run which put us 26th on the
grid", said John Kinder of Simpsonville, SC.

"Hickory has always been a tough track for us, but, we started way back in
the field the last time and came out with a pretty good finish, so, I was not
too concerned, I felt we could work our way to the front. The car felt good
at the start. As luck would have it, early on, in turn one, someone up front
must have got out of shape and the 8 car checked up right in front of me, I
hit the binders hard, but, still made contact with him and I got hit hard by
the 1 car in the right front. The car went away big time after that
incident, which was just one of those racing deals". Kinder added.

"We struggled for several laps, and finally, I had to bring the car in, or I
was going to knock down a wall, it was a real handful to drive, the team did
a great job in the pits, assessing the damage, made some repairs and we went
back out, only to have more handling problems. Man there is nothing worse
than trying to muscle an ill handling race car on a short track like Hickory.
We contender to make more stops, trying to make adjustment that would help
the car turn, the toe was way out and I think we may have had a bent sway
bar. Won't know for sure what went wrong until we get the car back to the
shop" Bottom line, it was long night and I one point, my car owner said to
just park it, but, we persuaded him to let us stay out. We did not have much
to get in the top five, but we were able to salvage the race and finish,
which helped us in the points", Kinder said.

Kinder will head to South Boston in a few weeks, where he hopes his luck will
turn around. For additional information about John Kinder and the PowerBase
