After starting 3rd in his first race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Atwood was well on his way to an impressive finish when an on-track incident on lap 32 sent Atwood to the garage and ended his day early in 41st. The No. 7 Sirius team tested for the Brickyard on July 15 and 16. On the second day, Atwood recorded the 11th-fastest time in a brand new car.
