A New Development from Mercedes-Benz: The Headlight that Illuminates Curves

Stuttgart,- A new kind of active curve light will allow Mercedes-Benz to improve night driving safety even further. The system, developed in cooperation with the Hella company, is based on the bi-xenon headlight used in the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The active curve light system lets the headlights follow the driver’s steering movements and quickly swivel to the side when the car is heading into a curve. As a result, road illumination is increased by up to 90 percent. Because the new system directs the lights in accordance with the car’s steering angle, drivers can see the bend of the curve ahead of time, which allows them to adjust their movements accordingly.
