R.Gordon Will Drive Despite Ankle Injuries

Gordon to Pilot Cingular Wireless Chevrolet
Despite Ankle Injuries

LONG POND, PA. (July 28, 2002) -- Robby Gordon will drive the No. 31
Cingular Wireless Chevrolet in today¹s Pennsylvania 500 after he sustained
bilateral sprained ankles Saturday afternoon in a motocross incident.

Gordon suffered two sprained ankles after jumping a hill at Traxx
Motorsports Park at Jack Frost Ski Resort on his Honda CRF450 motocross bike
Saturday afternoon. He was with some of the Cingular team members at the
time and was immediately evaluated by park physicians.

Dr. Jay Golding, Richard Childress Racing team physician, evaluated Gordon
Sunday morning and concurred with the Traxx Motorsports Park physicians that
Gordon sprained both ankles. Gordon¹s left ankle was injured more severely
than his right ankle, and Dr. Golding plans to place an aircast on Gordon¹s
left ankle and wrap the right ankle in an ACE bandage for the 500-mile race.

The Cingular team will make the final decision following today¹s event about
whether or not Gordon will test Monday and Tuesday at Watkins Glen (N.Y.)
International.
