Montgomery Gets First Legitimate Practice at Pocono

Montgomery Gets First Legitimate Practice at Pocono

LONG POND, Penn. (July 25, 2002) - Due to rain, the ARCA RE/MAX Series teams had very limited practice time at Pocono Raceway when they visited the track in the spring.

This time around, the weather cooperated, practice, qualifying and happy hour all went off without a hitch.

Montgomery Motorsports driver Chase Montgomery was happy to run legitimate, dry laps, aside from during the race, on the 2.5-mile tri-oval.

"The first time I came here it rained out our practice time and I really never had a chance to get a good feel for the track," Montgomery said.

Montgomery will start 11th after turning a .567 (158.6 mph average) qualifying lap.

"We've got a good car for this weekend," Montgomery said. "It is a little tight, but I think if I can be consistent out there, we will be in the top five at the end of the race."

The ARCA Pepsi 400 will start at 1:00 EDT on Saturday July 27.
