Microtune to Supply Radio Frequency Tuners to Chrysler Group
DALLAS--July 24, 2002--Microtune(R), Inc. today announced that it will supply Chrysler Group with radio frequency (RF) tuners for factory-installed radio/cassette players in Chrysler vehicles beginning in Model Year (MY) 2003."We value our key strategic supplier relationship with the Chrysler Group," explained Douglas J. Bartek, Chairman and CEO of Microtune. "With its award-winning vehicles, Chrysler manufactures some of the most sophisticated audio car electronics in the world today. By providing field-proven, cost-optimized tuner solutions based on our innovative RF technology, we enable Chrysler to meet customer expectations for superior AM/FM radio performance, quality and reliability."
The Microtune MT1384 AM/FM Tuner Subsystem
Chrysler Group will deploy a customized version of Microtune's newest AM/FM tuner, the MT1384 subsystem. Part of Microtune's family of highly specialized and environmentally ruggedized automotive RF products, the MT1384 is engineered to enable electronically tuned AM/FM performance, drift-free reception and clean, clear sound reproduction in mobile platforms.
With excellent sensitivity and superior adjacent channel and multipath suppression, the MT1384 automotive tuners receive weak signals and those packed in dense, urban signal environments. Implementing innovative agile filter adjustment techniques, the MT1384 subsystem analyzes the received signal and dynamically adjusts its filters to the best-suited configuration. This feature, together with the integrated multipath noise blanker, allows the MT1384 solution to enable clear sound with minimal noise and interference, even in the most critical receiving situations.
The tuner is manufactured under ISO 9002 and QS 9001 standards to meet stringent testing, operational and reliability specifications. Microtune's quality-driven product engineering and manufacturing ensures that radio systems perform to expectations, even over extended temperature ranges and under adverse environmental operating conditions.
