GOING BACK TO POCONO
"I'm really looking forward to heading back to Pocono. It's always been a track that's treated me pretty well. I've had some good runs throughout the years, and I've won there so that always makes a track special. I'd have to say it's one of my favorites if not my favorite. We're looking forward to bringing the Dodge Dealers Dodge back this time. Hopefully, we'll be able to get qualifying in and have a good run on Sunday. We're pretty confident with the way things are going. I think I'm as excited as I've ever been to go back there."

POCONO MEMORIES
"Everyone asks me about winning against Earnhardt at Pocono. It was big. I mean how can you forget something like that, to beat one of the greatest. It's one of my best memories in racing. I'd have to say that and then when I beat Darrell (Waltrip) at Pocono. That one was big too. I still have that car. You just don't forget things like that. I'd have to say that those are two of the biggest racing memories and they happened at Pocono."

 
STATS & FACTS


	*	This weekend's race marks Mayfield's 257th career start in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. In 17 career races at Pocono Raceway, Jeremy Mayfield has a career-high two wins at the track, as well as three top fives and seven top 10s.  Mayfield earned his best start at Pocono (third) in June of 1998, and stayed in front that day to earn his first NASCAR Winston Cup Series career victory.  He earned his second win at the track just two years later in the 2000 Pocono 500.    

	*	Last weekend in New Hampshire, Jeremy Mayfield rolled off 12th (after qualifying 14th) for the 300 lap race. Mayfield moved up immediately, finding himself in the seventh spot by lap 12. He would spend the day riding out the various pit stops, which had teams taking different tire combinations throughout the day. On lap 224, Mayfield found himself in the 13th spot, but a tight handling car forced him to lose ground. He would battle through the last round of pit stops, finishing in 19th place.

	*	In June's Pocono 500, Mayfield started his No. 19 Dodge Intrepid R/T in the 24th spot because of owners points. The two-time Pocono winner patiently picked his way through the field. His consistent run ended on lap 145 when a mechanical problem put an end to his day as well. He finished in 36th place.

	*	After last weekend's finish in New Hampshire, Mayfield fell to 28th place in points. Mayfield is tied with Kevin Harvick in the points race.  He is two points out of 26th place and 75 points out of 25th place.

	*	Mayfield's second-place run this year at Las Vegas was his best run at the track and his best overall finish since the 2000 Pennzoil 400 at Homestead-Miami where he finished second.  The finish also qualified Mayfield for the Winston No Bull 5 $1 million bonus during the May race in Charlotte.

	*	Coming into the 2002 season, Mayfield had 237 starts, with six poles (two at Talladega and one at Darlington, Dover, Rockingham, and Texas), three wins (two at Pocono, and one at California), 33 top-fives and 58 top-10s.  His most recent win came at Pocono in June of 2000.
