Immersion Invites SIGGRAPH Attendees To Try New Microscribe G2 Digitizer And CyberForce System With CATIA Software
SAN ANTONIO--July 23, 2002--Immersion Corp. , a leading developer of 3D and force-feedback products and technologies, invites attendees to be among the first to try their hand at digitizing 3D objects with the new MicroScribe(TM) G2 digitizer. Attendees will also be able to "reach into the computer" and physically feel a 3D CAD model using the CyberForce(TM) whole-hand, grounded force-feedback system with the VirtualHand Extension to CATIA(R) software.
The fully portable MicroScribe G2 allows animators, design engineers, game developers, and industrial designers to physically capture the properties of 3D objects and translate them into digital 3D models faster and more easily than with previous models. A key feature is the USB support, which provides easy connection and power to the device. A new companion product, MicroScribe Connections for Maya, is the first in a new series of plug-ins developed by Immersion. This product appeals to designers who use the MicroScribe to digitize and animate 3D characters and digital content in Maya. Immersion is offering a special bundle of a MicroScribe G2, MicroScribe Connections plug-in, and a ball tip accessory for $3785, a MSRP savings of $250.
CyberForce is a whole-hand, grounded force-feedback tool for real-time 3D interaction that allows the designer to "reach in" and physically feel simulated computer content. With the addition of the new VirtualHand Extension to CATIA software, users will be immersed in a digital prototype of an automobile cockpit and be able to run their physical hand across the 3D CAD model of a dashboard and literally "hang their hand" on a graphical steering wheel.
Attendees will also be able to try the CyberTouch(TM) tactile-feedback glove with the new VirtualHand Extension to Sense8's WorldToolkit software.
