Microtune Announces Share Repurchase Program

    PLANO, Texas--July 22, 2002--Microtune today announced that its Board of Directors has authorized the Company to repurchase up to 5,325,000 shares of its common stock. The repurchase program is effective July 23, 2002. The Company may repurchase the shares from time to time in open market or private transactions, subject to market conditions and trading restrictions. The purchases may be commenced or suspended at any time without prior notice.
    "Our board has made the decision to proceed with this share repurchase program because we believe that it will increase shareholder value. This buyback program represents a strong vote of confidence in Microtune's future," said Douglas J. Bartek, Microtune's Chairman and CEO.
    As of June 30, 2002, the Company had approximately 53.3 million shares outstanding.
