Woodside Injured in Shop Accident, Will Miss Altamont
Race
July 18, 2002 (Saugus, Calif.) - Sean Woodside, driver of the #45 Lucas
Oil/Ron's Rear Ends/NAPA Filters Chevrolet in the Featherlite Southwest
Series, NASCAR Touring, broke his left leg in a shop accident late Tuesday
night. He has been hospitalized since the accident, and underwent surgery
this afternoon to pin and set the broken bones.
Woodside is already anxious to get back into the race car, however, the
injury will keep him on the sidelines for about four weeks, a timeline which
includes several upcoming races on the Southwest Series schedule. He would
have entered this weekend's event at Altamont Raceway Park with just a
19-point deficit between him and first-place in the Southwest Series
championship hunt.
Woodside and Lucas Oil, his sponsor, are discussing how they will handle the
upcoming races, and are already planning for his return to racing. Further
announcements will be made at a later date.
