Renault to Standardize All Automobile Assembly Worldwide on eMPower Solutions From Tecnomatix
NASHUA, N.H.--July 16, 2002--Continues 15-Year Investment in Tecnomatix Solutions to Reduce Costs, Improve Quality Throughout the Renault Manufacturing and Supply Chain
Tecnomatix Technologies, Ltd. , the driving force in Manufacturing Process Management (MPM) solutions, today announced that leading French automotive manufacturer Renault has decided to fully standardize all of its assembly processes worldwide on Tecnomatix eMPower(TM) solutions. For more than 15 years, Renault has relied on solutions from Tecnomatix to reduce costs and improve quality throughout the company's manufacturing and supply chain.
Renault will standardize on Tecnomatix eM-Workplace and eM-OLP products in plants throughout France, Spain, Turkey and Brazil for use in both the pre-planning and detailed studies phases of their automotive assembly process. These eMPower products let Renault improve the quality of its spot welding, reduce robot programming time, define workflow with line builders and allow for reuse of existing resources and processes. To date, Renault has been able to streamline its assembly process with Tecnomatix solutions, recording a 10 percent reduction in the number of assembly robots, at a cost of $50,000 to $100,000 per robot.
"We've worked so closely with Tecnomatix over the past 15 years because eMPower has continuously demonstrated business benefits for our automotive assembly operations," said a manager of Renault. "Working with Tecnomatix, we've been able to streamline our operations - making them more efficient and reliable and helping us maintain the high level of manufacturing quality our customers expect. We chose to standardize on eMPower worldwide because the solution has enabled us to significantly reduce the costs in manufacturing of all our key car projects, allowing us to bring newer and higher quality car models to market."
Renault will use eM-Workplace in the pre-planning stage of production to transfer 3D models and welding point locations from its CAD system to its eMPower environment, conduct feasibility studies for assembly process validation, provide cost estimation support for production scenario decisions, define the assembly sequences and provide feedback to product design.
During the detailed studies stage, Renault will be able to specify the required resources and available space of the new lines. Renault will also be able to give the line builder all technical constraints and then request a complete welding line/workcell definition including paths, fixtures, and robot programs.
"We are pleased that a company like Renault has recognized the ability of our solutions to deliver improved production processes, reduce costs and speed time-to-market," said Harel Beit-On, president and CEO, Tecnomatix Technologies, Ltd. "This decision to standardize on eMPower technology throughout Renault's operations worldwide is the result of a long working relationship between our two companies, and validates the benefits of Tecnomatix solutions for world-leading enterprises."
