NAMARS PR: BEACH ENDS PIERCE'S SPEEDROME STREAK

BEACH ENDS PIERCE'S SPEEDROME STREAK

July 11, 2002

Speedway, IN Teddy Beach returned to the Indianapolis Speedrome for the first time since his dominating NAMARS 500 win in May with a mission - put an end to the six race win streak of NAMARS MidgetCar points leader Aaron Pierce. Mission accomplished - by over a half lap - in a fifty lap feature event that ran green-to-checker in just over ten minutes! Pierce finished second over defending Speedrome champion Billy Wease, and ends his streak with some impressive stats. Pierce still retains the Driver points lead in all three NAMARS MidgetCar divisions, is now tied for second with Gene Lee Gibson on the all-time NAMARS win list with ten feature wins, and is the only driver in NAMARS history to win six consecutive feature events. And the 2002 season is just barely halfway over.
In Kenyon MidgetCar competition during round nine of "Thursday Night Lightning", Scott Thoman won his second straight feature event over NAMARS 500 co-winner Todd Beach, who returned to Series competition after a four week hiatus due to injuries sustained during a motorcycle accident. Series Driver points leader, Bryan Clauson (R) rounded out the top three over Derek Bischak and Jordan Noblitt. The Kenyon MidgetCar Series returns to Camden Raceway in Camden, Indiana this Friday night, where MidgetCar legend, Mel Kenyon won his 381st feature race two weeks ago. The Championship MidgetCar Series will visit the recently remodeled Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Indiana Saturday evening.
