Brilliance China says BMW China JV approved

HONG KONG, July 12 Reuters reports China's largest minibus maker Brilliance China said on Friday its majority-owned unit has won government approval to proceed with a joint venture with Germany's BMW AG to make and sell BMW's in China.

The venture will have an annual production capacity of 30,000 vehicles, with production set to begin in the second half of 2003, Brilliance said in a statement. It did not give a figure for total investment in the project.
