Charlie Ford Enters a New Kind of Race

FORD TO ENTER A DIFFERENT RACE

July 10, 2002

Charles City, VA. Charlie Ford will be entering a different kind of race this

upcoming weekend. His wife has entered her sailboat in the 2002 Southern

Chesapeake Volvo Leukemia Cup Regatta to take place July 12-13 in

Deltaville, Va. And she has signed Charlie on has a crew member. I follow

him all over the east coast for the USAR Hooters Pro Cup races and I either

score or spot. So I told him it was time for him to be a crew member for a

change.

Charlie purchase a Hunter 46' sloop for his wife Peggysue earlier this year

that she named "Tallulah". "Since she has been attending auto races for over

25 years she wanted to pursue her dream of sailing. She attended the ASA Sailing

School in Tortola January of last year to get her certification", says Charlie. "She

is the Captain and I tell everyone that I m her deck hand".

"Although we have never raced a boat it is simply a "cruisers race" for a very

good cause", says Peggysue. "I simply want to have fun and raise donations for

the Leukemia Society. I also donate can food all year long to the local food bank

thru a club that I belong to. Earlier this year we had a club member who lost his

home to a fire and I purchased a bunch of clothes for him. He still hugs me when-

ever he sees me. It just feels good to help people".

"I don't think I will get Charlie converted from cars to boats since the boat only

goes about 10 knots. He is always teasing me about how slow it is but, he does

enjoy it. I will let you know how his future is as crew member after the weekend",

jokes Peggysue.

If anyone would like to make a donation thru Tallulah contact Peggysue @

(804) 829-9998 or Charlie Ford @ (804) 261-5990. All checks are to be made

out to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
