NOTES OF INTEREST: The Bluegrass Quality Meats 200 marks the 6th
appearance of the ARCA RE/MAX Series at Kentucky Speedway since Tim
Steele won the inaugural event in 2000. ARCA RE/MAX race winners at
Kentucky also include Ryan Newman and Frank Kimmel. Kimmel, who has
recently taken over the series points lead following his runner-up
finish to Ken Schrader at South Boston, has won the last 3 consecutive
RE/MAX Series races at Kentucky Speedway. Kimmel, who hails from nearby
Jeffersonville Indiana, considers Kentucky his hometown superspeedway.
At present, there are currently 3 rookies in the top-10 points including
3rd in points Chad Blount (22 years old), 5th in points Chase Montgomery
(18) and 8th in points Shelby Howard (16). The list of entrants
(currently at 47) represents 14 states and 3 countries (US, Canada &
Argentina). Kimmel is the only former RE/MAX Series champion entered.
Other entrants include Buenos Aires Argentina driver Guillermo Ortelli
making his first RE/MAX Series attempt, Ontario Canada driver Sean
Stafford, former NFL head coach Jerry Glanville, California driver
Austin Cameron and Bowling Green Kentucky driver Deborah Renshaw who’ll
make her first RE/MAX Series attempt at Kentucky in a Bob Schacht
Motorsports Ford. Additional Kentuckians entered include Keith Murt
(Paducah), Frank Kapfhammer (Louisville), Dennis English (Benton),
Willie Green (Walton), John Hayden (Owensboro) and London KY driver
Jamie Mosley also making his career-first attempt. Two sons of former
ARCA RE/MAX Series champions are entered: Todd Bowsher (father Jack
3-time champ) and Billy Venturini (father Bill 2-time champ). Jason
Jarrett, 4th in points and son of 99 Winston Cup champ Dale Jarrett, is
also entered.
