Fleetguard's Emission Solutions Announces New Partnerships To Support Aggressive Business Plan

NASHVILLE--July 10, 2002--Today, Fleetguard's new Emission Solutions business announced the formation of key partnerships to support its aggressive business plan. Partners include Johnson Matthey, Engelhard Corporation, Siemens, Motorola, and 3M. "These companies bring proven technology to our customers. Combined with Fleetguard Emission Solutions exhaust packaging and system integration capabilities, we are very well-positioned to help our customers meet current and future global emissions hurdles", commented Dan Davis, Executive Director - Marketing and Sales for Fleetguard Emission Solutions.
Johnson Matthey is a 185-year-old, highly diversified global advanced material technology firm. Johnson Matthey has been selected by Cummins to supply a broad spectrum of cost-effective, catalytic technology through Emission Solutions to Cummins distributors for retrofitting Cummins engines to reduce vehicle emissions below current standards. Johnson Matthey is also working in partnership with Emission Solutions on select Cummins OEM programs.
Another key partner in catalytic technology is Engelhard Corporation, the Fortune 500 surface and materials science company that develops technologies to improve customers' products and processes. Engelhard is providing components for particulate filters and oxidation catalysts. These applications include a portion of International Truck and Engine Corporation engines, Detroit Diesel Corporation bus and coach engines and Cummins engines for the bus and medium duty on-highway markets.
Siemens, a major diversified industrial concern, will supply catalyst components for certain Emission Solutions Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR). Emission Solutions has chosen Motorola, Inc., a global leader in providing integrated communications solutions and embedded electronic solutions, to supply hardware for its advanced particulate filter control systems. In addition, Emission Solutions continues to make progress in its joint development activities with 3M, a diversified technology company with leading positions in environmental markets since 1929. On March 4, 3M and Emission Solutions announced a partnership to supply composite substrate for advanced emission control devices. "Fleetguard Emission Solutions goal is providing our customers with the best products for their unique needs. Our partnerships will enable us to offer customers a timely and cost-effective solution for reducing exhaust emissions," commented Davis.
Emission Solutions is focused on meeting the growing requirements from its customers and governmental regulatory agencies, to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) and particulate matter (PM) emissions from engine and power plant exhaust. Target markets include diesel and spark-ignited engines needing retrofitted with catalytic control devices, as well as original equipment manufacturers who require state of the art exhaust aftertreatment technology.
Fleetguard Inc., headquartered in Nashville, Tenn., is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cummins Inc. and the global manufacturer and specialist of filtration and exhaust products and systems for diesel engines (9-7000 horsepower).
