Mercedes-Benz June Worldwide Car Sales Up 4 pct

FRANKFURT, July 5 Reuters reported that German automaker DaimlerChrysler AG said today that worldwide sales of its Mercedes-Benz passenger cars rose four percent in June from a year earlier to 95,700 units, despite difficult markets.

Mercedes-Benz car sales in the first six months of the year were stable at about 559,000 units, the group said in a statement.

"We are still dealing with a difficult economic environment and significantly declining automobile markets both worldwide and in our core European markets," Mercedes-Benz marketing chief Joachim Schmidt said in a statement.
