DaimlerChrysler Executive Joins Powerway Board; Walukas Brings Wealth of Expertise as Head of Worldwide Supplier Quality for Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge Brands

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.--July 3, 2002--Stephen M. Walukas, Vice President of Global Supplier Quality for Chrysler, Jeep(R) and Dodge Brands at DaimlerChrysler, has joined the board of directors of Powerway, Inc., according to an announcement made today.
    Walukas is responsible for all domestic and international supplier development and quality for the Chrysler Group unit of DaimlerChrysler AG.
    DaimlerChrysler worked closely with Powerway on the development of Powerway.com, the Web-based solution for product quality performance used in the automotive industry. DaimlerChrysler, which also has an equity stake in Powerway, announced its commitment last year to the use of Powerway.com on all of its future vehicles by the 2004 model year in order to collaborate on advanced quality planning.
    Earlier this year, Ford Motor Company and General Motors Corporation announced they would join DaimlerChrysler in adopting Powerway.com, making it possible for suppliers around the world to use one standard, Web-based environment for advanced quality planning (AQP). In addition, automotive supplier Intier Automotive Seating Group, a subsidiary of Magna International, is using Powerway.com with its supply base, and Powerway is Covisint's chosen technology provider for communicating advanced quality activities.
    "We are pleased to welcome Steve Walukas to Powerway's Board. He is intimately acquainted with Powerway.com and committed to its adoption within DaimlerChrysler and throughout its network of suppliers," said Thomas Hiatt, Powerway CEO and board member.
    In a recent address at the DaimlerChrysler Innovation Symposium held June 11-12 near Stuttgart, Walukas stated: "Powerway.com is an integral part of DaimlerChrysler's quality planning and has the potential to become an industry-wide solution. The reality is, without early planning for quality and easy sharing of part quality information, even the most innovative of designs can be doomed to failure.
    "Powerway.com is DaimlerChrysler's unifying tool to help bring together Engineering, Procurement & Supply and Manufacturing, as well as suppliers, to fulfill the quality goals within the whole corporation," Walukas concluded.

    Walukas joins a prominent Powerway board, including:

-- Michael Acheson, co-founder and managing director, Blue Water Capital, L.L.C.;
-- Rollin Dick, vice chairman and chief financial officer, Haverstick Consulting, Inc.;
-- Richard Donnelly, former president, General Motors Europe;
-- Thomas Hiatt, general partner, Middlewest Ventures L.P. and managing director, Centerfield Capital Partners, L.P.;
-- David J. Peterson, managing director, Hagerty Peterson & Co., L.L.C. and former executive officer, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter; and
-- John C. Stellman, vice president, mergers and acquisitions, DaimlerChrysler Corporation.

    DaimlerChrysler's Peter Rosenfeld, vice president, procurement and sourcing strategy, recently completed a term on the Board.
