Rand Racing - Daytona advance

Rand Racing hopes to celebrate the fourth of July with its 
seventh-consecutive SRPII victory in the Rolex Sports Car Series.  The team 
has reason for optimism as it returns to the site of its first two victories 
- the 3.56-mile Daytona International Speedway road course in Daytona Beach, 
Fla.  With six class victories this season, Rand Racing leads the SRPII 
championship and Rand driver Terry Borcheller of Phoenix tops the SRPII 
driver points.

Borcheller will drive the No. 8 Nissan Lola at Daytona with Niclas Jönsson of 
Aliso Viejo, Calif.  Business commitments will keep Bill Rand of Plano, Tex., 
off track, but he's found a ready replacement in NASCAR Winston Cup driver 
Jerry Nadeau of Mooresville, N.C.  Nadeau will drive the No. 7 Nissan Lola 
with Anthony Lazzaro of Acworth, Ga. 

"All the things that Anthony Lazzaro told me about the team show it's 
first-class, so I think it's going to be a lot of fun," Nadeau said.  "I 
always wanted to get back and do some more road racing, so it's a good 
opportunity to do it with Rand Racing."

Nadeau drove a strong race at Sears Point Raceway on June 23, one of two 
road-course races on the Winston Cup schedule.  He was leading by almost four 
seconds with just two laps to the finish when a rear-end gear failure took 
him out of the race.

"Jerry will bring another piece of talent to the team," said team owner Rand. 
 "Given his performance at Sears Point, we know he's more than qualified to 
drive.  With the race held in conjunction with NASCAR, it should add a little 
flavor and spice to the weekend."

The Daytona race will be Terry Borcheller's sixth of seven races in two 
countries and five states in three weeks.  He started at the 24 Hours of Le 
Mans June 15/16, then competed in Grand-Am Cup and Rolex Series races at 
Watkins Glen International in New York on June 22 and 23.  He commuted 
between Virginia International Raceway and the Mid-Ohio Sports Car course for 
a June 29 Grand-Am Cup race and an American Le Mans Series race on June 30.  
He will leave immediately following the late-night July 4 Rolex Series race 
in Daytona to start practice for the July 7 American Le Mans Series race at 
Road America in Wisconsin.

"This is where I realize why I get paid to race!" he said.  "I'm trying to 
stay rested as best I can, keep up my training as best I can and really keep 
up on minerals and vitamins."
