MADISON, Ill. -- Mopar Motorsports NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series teams
completed eliminations for this weekend¹s Sears Craftsman Nationals at
Gateway International Raceway.

DARRELL ALDERMAN, driver of the Mopar Parts Dodge Neon R/T

Darrell Alderman made a bid for his third-straight holeshot victory over
George Marnell. Alderman, a three-time POWERade Pro Stock World Champion,
again took a decisive starting line advantage (.463-.480) on Marnell in
round two, but his 6.975-second elapsed time at 198.73 mph wasn¹t enough to
hold off Marnell¹s 6.949-second run at 198.96 mph.

³We made a decent overall run out there,² Alderman said. ³But, we spun the
tires in 60 foot and it didn¹t run the way we wanted it too. We ran pretty
well this weekend, especially with having 40 cars in the field. The track
conditions were awfully hard to figure out as well.²

Alderman advanced to the second round with a victory over Arturo Delgado in
round one. The 28-time NHRA national event winner clicked off a 6.985-second
lap at 198.70 mph.
