Irwindale, Calif.  - - Irwindale Speedway has oft been accused of presenting “too much show”, race after race of exciting NASCAR short track competition which tends to takes your breath away and keeps its for the whole night of racing … To which the staff and management plead:  Guilty.  

For evidence we offer the upcoming racing card of Saturday night July 6:  Four - count' em – four, super-competitive divisions of racing: the Jani-King Super Late Models, the Automobile Club of Southern California Late Models, the American Race Trucks, and the King Taco Legend Cars … Every one of them a racing event to reckon with.  

And then there's the big pre-race “show”:  the live band from 4 to 6PM, Mimi the face-painting Clown for the “kids”, and the on-track autograph session at 6PM when every car and every driver lines up on the front straight and everyone in the grandstands goes down onto the track for a personal, upclose look at the race cars and meets their heroes while standing on the track's 6-degree banking.   

Throughout the night there's always an opportunity or three to catch a track T-shirt shot high into the air over the grandstands by lovable mascot “Lug Nut Jr.”.  That wild and wacky little guy with the hex-head never has trouble getting the “kid's” attention every time he suddenly appears from under the grandstands.

Also on Saturday night, July 6, the first 250 owners of Dodge automobiles will receive free parking at the races and the first 750 Dodge owners and their guests will receive free admission and a free meal.  All Dodge owners will receive free Dodge Weekly Racing Series gift bags presented by Dodge Souvenirs.

Dodge will also be accepting entries to win 4 Craftsman Truck tickets for California Speedway, Irwindale Speedway tickets, VIP seating for the night (July 6th) as well as pace car rides and the job of honorary starter.  (Did we mention “Too much show” earlier?  How about “WAY too much show!”)  Nahhh … You can never have too much fun at NASCAR race.  Family fun, closeup racing thrills, and … What … Free candy hats?

… Of course!  July 6th at Irwindale being “Hot Tamales Night” as well as Dodge Night, there will be special HT racing caps for the first 250 people spied on premises eating that spicy-sweet confection that's one of NASCAR's very most favorite fun foods.

Tickets for July 6 are available in person at the track box office Tuesday – Saturday, by phone (626) 358-1100, and on the track's secure server website (www.irwindalespeedway.com).  Fans are advised to get their tickets early and/or to buy a new Dodge Saturday morning and drive it up to the front gates at 3:59PM on Saturday afternoon.   Either way, gates open at 4PM and the fun starts (very) shortly thereafter!

The Irwindale Speedway complex, located on Live Oak Avenue at the 605 Freeway in Irwindale, comprises a 6,500-seat NASCAR twin-oval track and an NHRA Street Legal Drag Strip.  The facility is in use over 200 days a year with racing, testing, driving schools, special vehicle sales, car club events, TV-film-commercial shoots, police-fire-emergency personnel training and more.
