Qualifying Notes at Mid-Ohio
10:41 AM – Field given the five minutes to go to 30-minute qualifying
session.
10:42 AM – It’s a typical summer day in Ohio, hot and humid.
10:42 AM – The track has a lot more rubber on it than the practice session
yesterday, after all other races series have been on track.
10:45 AM – Cars roll on course to commence qualifying.
10:45 AM – No. 3 Sellers posted the fastest time in practice, 1:23.651. This
time is faster than the old Pinto lap record, set in 1999.
10:46 AM – Almost all the cars have gone out on sticker tires. This is the
first race using the new A24 Avon Tyres compound.
10:48 AM – A number drivers reported to be struggling to find grip earlier
in the weekend.
10:48 AM – No. 27 Andersen has been reporting some spray coming from the
left rear of the car.
10:49 AM – Very early in the session the top-five is No. 32 Aschenbach, No.
3, No. 86 Brumbaugh, No. 24 McIntosh and No. 9 Kasemets.
10:51 AM – No. 3 becomes the first driver in the 1:23’s.
10:52 AM – Top-five is No. 24, No. 86, No. 9, No. 27 and No. 5 Imery.
10:53 AM – Top-five is all in the 1:23’s.
10:54 AM – No. 19 Urlin has moved into second place.
10:54 AM – Top-five is now No. 24, No. 19, No. 9, No. 2 Jones and No. 32.
10:55 AM – No. 24 has a quick time of 1:23.463.
10:56 AM – A number cars have come into the pits to make minor adjustments
to the setup.
10:58 AM – No. 62 Sakowicz is the quickest ACC car, in 20th place.
11:00 AM – No. 44 Smith has gone back to the paddock.
11:01 AM – No. 86 has gone off in turn 7 in the gravel trap.

11:04 AM – Field given one minute to restart.
11:05 AM – Cars roll with 10 minutes remaining in the session.

11:09 AM – No. 16 Gue has spun in the carousel.
11:10 AM – No. 11 Rubenzer spins in front of No. 16 and continues.
11:11 AM – An unknown car has spun in turn one, but continues.

11:11 AM – The top-five is unchanged.
11:13 AM – CHECKERED, No. 24 McIntosh has captured his career pole ahead of
No. 19 Urlin and No. 9 Kasemets.
