LUCAS OIL SERIES INVADES INFINEON RACEWAY

        SONOMA, Calif. - In the first rounds of qualifying at Infineon
Raceway, for the Bank of the West InReach Internet Golden Gate Summer
Nationals it was Wayne Ramay leading the field in Comp. Eliminator with a
qualifying pass of 7.063 seconds, 0.727 under his index. Fresno resident,
Jeff Lion sits in the number two spot with a run of 8.623 seconds.
        Jerry Jenkins of Modesto, Calif., leads the Super Stock class with
an 8.808-second run, 1.192 seconds under his index. Jenkins is followed by
Bob Mazzolini, who is 1.148 seconds under his index with a pass of 10.352. 
Sarah Norswothy of Santa Clara, Calif., leads the Stock field at 12.337
seconds, 1.313 under her index while Robert Pond is in the number two spot
with a 10.124-second lap, 1.126 under his index.
        Pacific Division Top Alcohol Funny Car Champion Steve Gasparrelli
won this event last year and is hoping to pick up his third Lucas Oil Drag
Racing Series win of the season this weekend. Gasparrelli picked up wins at
the season opener in Phoenix, Ariz., and last month in Sacramento, Calif.
Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car will have their first shot at qualifying
on Saturday.
        Qualifying continues Saturday at 8:15 a.m. Gates at Infineon
Raceway open at 7 a.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car run at 1, 4, and
