Excitement Beginning to Build As Jr. Competitors Plan for Final Eliminations
READING, Pa. -With several days of time trials behind them and final eliminations ahead, NHRA Castrol GTX Jr. Drag Racing League competitors from NHRA's Northeast Division, Southeast Division, North Central Division and South Central Division, closed the books on the first round of elimination's today in it's eight classes. 
	In the opening round of competition at the Eastern Conference Finals it was a good day for defending champions. Some of Friday afternoon's first round winner's included two-time NHRA Castrol GTX Jr. Drag Racing League Eastern Conference Finals champion, Timmy DiIorio of Burlington, N.J., as well as last year's champions Derek Stalhut of Port St. Lucie Fla., Jerry Marum of Crittenden, Ky., John Ciccarone of West Chester, Pa., Bobby Spence of Ellicott City, Pa., and Justin Hardy of Monroe, Mich. 
In addition to running eliminations, many of the participants and their families took time between rounds to visit the KidSports Fun Center, which was filled with fun games and amusements fit for the entire family. From face painting for those who wanted to showcase their "team spirit" to the all-out fun bungee run, surf machine and moon bounce, the fun center provided a good time for all that visited.
Once racing was complete racers and their families then made their way over to the Maple Grove barbecue to fill up on chicken, potatoes, and some cool drinks. 
With close to $100,000 in U.S. Savings Bonds up for grabs, the competition tomorrow is sure to be fierce. Gates open Saturday at 8 a.m. with eliminations in all categories slated to continue at 10 a.m. Awards for Best Appearing Car, Best Appearing Crew, Best Engineered Car, Closest to Dial In, Best Reaction Time, and the Team Spirit Award will be presented tomorrow afternoon.
