BMW WilliamsF1 Team-Barcelona Test
BARCELONA TEST - 25-28 June 2002
Summary:
The BMW WilliamsF1 Team has concluded a four day test at the Barcelona
circuit in Spain today in preparation for the forthcoming British Grand Prix
at Silverstone. Test team drivers Marc Gené and Antonio Pizzonia headed the
programme and focused on resolving deficiencies that compromised the team¹s
performance last weekend at the Nürburgring. On the final day of the test,
Marc Gené completed an unprecedented 141 laps or 666km.
Tim Newton (Test Team Manager, WilliamsF1):
"A useful test in terms of tyres and set-up work. In fact we've achieved a
lot despite the hot conditions. The whole test team has worked very hard
this week and deserves the weekend break."
Mario Theissen (BMW Motorsport Director):
"The team has had a very intense test programme for four days with two cars
in Barcelona. Apart from supporting the tyre and chassis development, we
also tested different engine mappings and made some race simulations."
