AAA Texas' Weekend Gas Watch; Gas Prices Hold Steady as Independence Day Approaches

    HOUSTON--June 28, 2002--Gasoline prices are holding steady as Independence Day approaches, according to the Weekend Gas Watch, compiled by AAA Texas. The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline at popular destinations for motoring trips.
    The statewide average price for regular self-serve is $1.32 a gallon -- unchanged since last week. Motorists in San Antonio are paying an average of $1.26 a gallon. Corpus Christi is two cents more at $1.28 a gallon. In Houston, it's $1.32 a gallon. In Fort Worth, it's $1.34 a gallon -- the same as last week. Once again, Dallas tops the list at $1.35 a gallon.
    "Motorists can expect fuel prices to remain near their current level for the Fourth of July holiday, barring some unforeseen development at home or abroad," said Rose Rougeau, spokesperson for AAA Texas.
