RAIN FORCES POSTMENT OF THUNDER IN THE VALLEY IV UNTIL JULY 9TH

JUNE 27, 2002
WEST LEBANON, NY - Everything was in place for a great show Thursday night at
Lebanon Valley. The fans were in the stands, the pits were full of
358-modifieds and NASCAR stars Tony Stewart and Dave Blaney were ready to
race. Unfortunately the speedway was hit with a huge downpour just after the
heat races had been completed forcing speedway officials to postpone the
event until July 9th at 8:00 p.m.
Sixty-three 358-modifieds were checked in for the Turning Stone Casino
358-modified Championship Trail event sponsored by CARQUEST Auto Parts, De
Crescente Distributors, Sprint PCS, G.E. Extreme Silicone Technology,
Saratoga Water, Molson Beer, I Love NY, Columbia County Office of Tourism.
Time trials were the first order of business Thursday night and Andy Bachetti
set the fastest time at 20.849 seconds. The second fastest car was that of
Tim Hindley. Rounding out the top five fastest time-trialer's were Brett
Hearn, Billy Decker and Rich Ricci Jr.
The heat races were won by Hearn, Decker, Ricci, Jack Johnson, Eddie
Marshall and Jeff Heotzler. Tony Stewart finished second in the second heat
and Dave Blaney finished second in the fifth heat. Both drivers looked very
comfortable on the high banks and are both looking forward to making the
return trip on July 9th.
The Pro Stocks will be added to the card on July 9th with a guaranteed
starting spot being offered for the Pro Stock event at Super Dirt Week. The
358-modifieds will be running their last chance consolations and the 100-lap
feature. Racing will get underway at 8:00. For more information on when the
gates will open check online at www.lebanonvalley.com or call the speedway at
(518) 794-9606.
