RYAN AND MORTER READY TO RACE N' ROLL AT PIKES PEAK MOUNTAIN

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 25, 2002)-After several successful testing sessions and the edition of Sirius Satellite Radio , the satellite radio broadcaster, Mike Ryan Motorsports is ready to hit the high notes at the 2002 Pikes Peak Hill Climb on June 29, 2002.  Molly Morter, driver of the No. 33 Sirius Satellite Radio Sterling, and Mike Ryan, driver of the No. 77 Freightliner SuperTruck, are confident and ready to race n' roll.

Morter took her first laps on the 12.4-mile course with great enthusiasm and confidence.  Once comfortable with the sharp turns and steep terrain she turned the speed up a notch and put on quite a show.

"It took me a run or two to feel comfortable, but once I had the lines down I turned the volume up in the Sirius Sterling," said Morter.  "I can't wait to pull up to the starting line on Saturday, this is going to be a race I will always remember.  I have to thank Mike Ryan for providing me with this incredible opportunity, as well as Sirius and the rest of our sponsors for believing in a little girl with a big truck."

The No. 33 Sirius Satellite Radio Sterling "Big Rig," driven by Molly Morter, is a 2000 Sterling AT9500 powered by a 14-liter race-version of the Detroit Diesel Series 60.  The engine, built by Detroit Diesel, puts out 1000 horsepower and is geared for a top speed of 102 mph.  The Sterling Hill Climb Truck was designed and built by the Freightliner and Sterling Truck Engineering and Test Center in Portland, Oregon.

Ryan, already a champion on the mountain, has his sights set on another championship run.  After testing in early June, Mike is confident that he has the truck to break his current record.

"I feel really good in the No. 77 Freightliner, the truck is fast and I'm really starting to get back into the groove, it is great to be back here," said Ryan.  "All of our sponsors have done a wonderful job in supporting our efforts this year and we're ready to put on a good show for them."

Ryan's race-modified Freightliner Century Class features a race version of the Mercedes-Benz 501 V-6 twin turbo that produces up to 1,450 horsepower as well as riding on Michelin X-1 tires, Accuride wheels, a Meritor rear axle and Shell Rotella T oil. The 7800+ - pound big rig saw speeds of up to 96 miles per hour during the Pikes Peak race.

In efforts to showcase the commitment Sirius has made to motorsports marketing, the Sirius Pikes Peak race trucks were on sight for the Sirius Satellite Radio 400 at the Michigan International Speedway.  The No. 77 Freightliner was featured in the Sirius sponsor lap prior to the start of the race while the No. 33 Sirius Sterling was the stage for the national anthem sung by Soluna.  The following weekend both trucks were featured in the Sirius hospitality area during the Winston Cup race at Sears Point Raceway.

The 2002 Pikes Peak Hill Climb, "80th Race to the Clouds," will be held June 29, 2002 in Colorado Springs, Colo.  The event is a unique auto and motorcycle race that combines a 12.4-mile gravel course with 130 mph plus straight-aways, 156 gravel turns, and cliffs of 2,000 feet with no guardrails.   The Pikes Peak Hill Climb is the second oldest motorsports event in the United States: The Indianapolis 500 being the oldest.
