Alex Job Racing Mid-Ohio & Road America advance

Alex Job Racing hopes to beat the challenge of back-to-back races on very 
different tracks to secure its third and fourth victories of the season in 
the GT class of the American Le Mans Series.  The team will field two Porsche 
911 GT3 RS race cars in a two-hour 45-minute race at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car 
Course in Lexington, Ohio, on June 30 and in a 500-mile race at Road America 
in Elkhart Lake, Wis., on July 7.

Lucas Luhr and Sasha Maassen, GT winners in the two previous races this 
season, will drive the No. 23 McKenna Xybernaut Porsche.  Timo Bernhard and 
Jörg Bergmeister will share the No. 22 Porsche.  The four Germans will get 
the best of two worlds - the technical twists of the 2.258-mile Mid-Ohio road 
course and the four-mile power track at Road America.

The crew will be tested by the different car set-ups required for the two 
races.  "Mid-Ohio is more a handling track with slower, more technical turns, 
so handling is a premium there," team strategist Mike Evans explained.  "Road 
America has more wide-open, high-speed turns, but also high-speed straights, 
so horsepower is definitely a key."

The track configurations produce different top speeds, so the crew will have 
to rebuild the team's four gearboxes (two race boxes and two spares) between 
races.  They will also be pressed to cover all the key areas of car 
preparation while traveling between race locations.

"Normally between races, we totally disassemble the cars, take all the 
suspension pieces apart, clean them, inspect all the bolts and check all the 
suspension components for cracks," Evans said.  "This tight schedule won't 
allow that, so we'll just clean and inspect things, put a wrench on every 
bolt and try to foresee problems before they bite us."
