ProCup Event

> Hard work, help from Spraker finally pay off
>
> INDIANAPOLIS, IN (June 22, 2002) - USAR Hooter's ProCup Northern
> Division rookie Jimmy Burns and his Jackaroo Meat Sauces crew finally
> had the kind of night they felt they were capable of having by finishing
> third in the Kroger 250 at historic IRP on Saturday night. Burns
> carefully picked his way through the field after starting 21st on the
> grid and stayed with the leaders throughout the balance of the race.
>
> "We struggled a bit through practice earlier today - I think we may have
> only been 25th fastest - but once the green flag dropped our car just
> handled just great and I was able to pick off the cars ahead of me one
> at a time", Burns said.
>
> Aside from some good driving on his part, Burns had some additional
> experience and help in his pits this weekend. Jeff Spraker, who owns
> Spraker Racing Enterprises and runs in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series
> and Busch Grand National Series was there lending a hand. "Jeff a big
> help to us this weekend - he was just great. He knows IRP pretty well
> and has the experience we needed. He kept telling me to conserve my
> tires and to keep running up high. He also kept everybody together on
> the crew, which was a big help." Indeed, the Jackaroo Crew finally got
> to show some of its pit stop skill by cracking off a stop late in the
> race that was equal to Jay Fogelman's, allowing Burns to stay right with
> the leaders.
>
> "The heat made the middle part of the race so hard. We just toughed it
> out and we finally came in and made a few adjustments around lap 175,
> then we were able to run with the leaders," Burns said. "Being able to
> do that and finishing where we did is what we've wanted to do all along
> for our fans and our sponsors. We're looking forward to seeing if we can
> make this a regular thing."
>
> Jimmy and the team wanted to extend a special thanks to Jeff Spraker for
> all his help this weekend and to our Primary Sponsor, Eastern Foods and
> their Jackaroo brand for their support and words of encouragement.
